Ita­li­an Dou­ble Bass

The instrument originates from the area around Palermo and was played for a long time by the solo bassist of a Slovenian orchestra. The top, in a slab cut, is older than the rest of the body and likely dates from the 18th century. Back, ribs, and neck are made of walnut.
